ABOUT DAZN
DAZN is the world’s only dedicated global sports streaming platform, available in over 200 markets and serving 300 million viewers across its owned and operated networks. From exclusive UEFA Champions League rights to the FIFA Club World Cup, NFL Game Pass International, and over 185 boxing events annually, DAZN has built one of the most ambitious sports media businesses in the world (generating $3.2 billion in revenue).
Behind the product that millions of sports fans experience every day is an engineering organisation of significant scale and complexity – built on cloud-first architecture, modern technology stacks, and a build it, ship it, own it engineering philosophy.
THE CHALLENGE
As DAZN scaled its streaming operations globally, the DOTS department needed to grow its engineering capacity to match – bringing in both QA Engineers to maintain the quality and reliability of its foundational services, and JavaScript Developers to build and extend the platform integrations that sit at the heart of what DOTS does.
Hiring for a team like DOTS requires more than finding engineers with the right technical skills. The autonomy, ownership culture and fast-moving environment means the profile of engineer who thrives there is specific, and finding that combination at the pace a company like DAZN needs to move demands a recruiter who understands the space intimately.
ABOUT THE DOTS TEAM
DOTS (Data, Operations and Tooling Services) is one of the most essential departments within DAZN’s engineering organisation. It provides the foundational infrastructure that powers DAZN’s streaming services at scale: supplying metadata to front-end applications, integrating with websites, and serving both internal and external customers across virtually every part of the DAZN product.
DOTS teams operate with genuine autonomy, choosing how they work, collaborating closely with architects and product teams to design solutions end to end, and taking full ownership of everything they build. It’s a cloud-first environment committed to the latest languages and frameworks, with dedicated personal development time, certifications and mentoring for engineers who want to grow.
WHY AMIGOS?
DAZN engaged us because of our deep expertise in the sports technology and streaming sector. Having built engineering teams for Accedo, Deltatre and others across the OTT/streaming ecosystem, we brought existing knowledge of the talent market, a strong network of relevant engineers, and a genuine understanding of what it takes to succeed in complex, high-performance streaming environments. We could move quickly and with confidence, not just sourcing candidates, but qualifying them against a high bar.
OUR APPROACH
We worked closely with the DOTS hiring team to build a precise understanding of the engineering profiles they needed – both the technical requirements and the less tangible qualities that matter in a high-autonomy, ownership-driven environment like DOTS. For QA Engineers, that meant finding people who could operate proactively in a cloud-first stack and take genuine ownership of quality across complex distributed systems. For JavaScript Developers, it meant finding engineers comfortable working at the intersection of data infrastructure and front-end integration.
With that understanding in place, we activated our network across both disciplines – identifying and qualifying candidates who matched not just the technical brief but the culture and working style of the DOTS team.
THE RESULT
We successfully placed QA Engineers and JavaScript Developers into the DOTS team at DAZN – contributing to the department that underpins the entire DAZN streaming product. Our work supported DAZN’s expansion phase as the business scaled its engineering organisation to keep pace with its rapidly growing global content portfolio and viewer base.
